Product Description:Written by the staff of the Adobe After Effects product team, this book is the fastest, easiest way to learn and master Adobe After Effects and have it up and working in hours. The CD contains movies, clips, images, sounds, and type used in tutorial files.
Amazon.com Review:Users of Adobe After Effects 3.1, the professional compositing application for Macintosh and Windows, have an excellent guidebook in this Classroom in a Book offering. In lesson after lesson, you build increasingly sophisticated composite movies using project files on the book's hybrid CD-ROM. You start off by learning the interface and then use the product's layering, masking, matte, keying-control, and special effects features. Then you learn how to animate with keyframes; adjust interpolations and velocity; use motion tracking and blue-screen keying features; synchronize audio and video; integrate animated layers from Photoshop; and render your movies. An appendix provides technical information on issues relating to film and video, such as alpha channels, frame rates, video-safe areas, NTSC color space, video aspect ratios, interlacing, video transfers, rendering for film, and audio.

Gives you all the basics., May 31, 1999

I've just jumped into the world of graphic design and all of the Classroom in a Book series have been extremely helpful. If there were only one criticism of After Effects, I'd say that the projects weren't really "modern" enough for what I want to do. It doesn't show you how to do fast paced commercial like effects, instead it teaches you slower, more simple projects. But all the basics are there which is the important part.
Well written with good exercises., May 5, 1999

This book will teach you the fundamentals. The exercises work and produce the results expected. The book could use a more comprehensive index.

All Adobe Classroom In A Book series (and I've done many) have been wonderful. This is no exception. I only wish they would introduce them with their software release, only makes sense. I am now waiting for AE 4.0 Classroom in a book. Adobe has the best plan of any software company on how to educate it's masses. Thanks again Adobe, and now where's 4.0 and what did you do to the clone brush and eye dropper in Photoshop 5.0?

i ordered this book from amazon.com and i must say kudos to adobe press. i really learned a lot mainly because the book was very practical and not theoretical. you're not just spoonfed tools and what they do but rather samples and what you can do with them. fantastic!

Wow, a software company that can actually write a good book! This is one of the best written technical books that I have ever read. As you go through the examples, they actually work!!! All of the examples take you step by step, so as not to lose the reader. It comes with a CD-Rom that actually contains the proper files! The book only covers a portion of this complex program, but it does so in a manner that allowes the reader to become productive in a very short time. I would certainly recommend this book.
