Excellent illustrations and orderly steps, November 14, 2008
By
R. PruittI've used Photoshop for several years as a hobbyist off and on (w/o any experts around to help me). If your goal is like mine - to get a nice project done with minimal time investment - this is the book for you! There's too much talk/reading in other training materials I've tried.
Because I will never use Photoshop often/continuously to master the concepts - I find learning multiple upon multiple steps to complete a task is just too complicated and time consuming for me. By the time I revisit the same task, I have forgotten how to do it.
The index is super and it's a snap to quickly find what you want to do. Just follow the steps and pictures and you have it! And 'tips' give wiggle room to be more creative.
For Photoshop beginners it may be best to start with Elements before attempting Photoshop. Then a book like this will be a piece of cake.
If a Volume 2 w/ another 100 tips/tricks were available, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
Excellent Graphic Overview of the Best Features of CS3 Photoshop, October 12, 2008

I really love this book. It takes you, with illustrated procedures all the way, through the best of Photoshop CS3 and shows you with illustrations some of the most useful, professional plug ins as well. I love a book that does not just extol the virtues of its primary subject but recognizes its (few) shortcomings and explains how to circumvent them. Well worth the money.
Simplified tips & tricks Adobe Photoshop CS3, October 8, 2008

I had expected another book without much meat on the bone and difficult to follow, however I have been very well satisfied with my purchase. It's well written with easy to follow instructions using computer screen shots to enrich the text instructions. The book covers a wide veriety of useful subjects, some more advanced than others but non the less easy to follow even if you are a complete novice to Photoshop.
I would thoroughly recommend this book, not only for it's content but the way in which the book has laid out and written.

While I enjoyed the illustrative screenshots, this book is what it says it is. It's not for the newbie Photoshop user. If you are Intermediate, then I think its a great buy. It gives you valuable tips, and is not there to give you step by step detail on how to accomplish a task. All together, a good buy, just not recommended for beginners.

I bought the CS Bible along with this and haven't gotten to it yet (it's huge!) but this book is so well written - with pictures, and exact numbered steps on how to perform each function, I doubt I will use the Bible other than for occasional reference. I'm very pleased the Top 100 Simplified Tips and Tricks!
