The claim that this works with Gen 5 Nanos is an outright lie.
 Works just fine for Audio - way better than the headphone --> RCA output, November 2, 2009 By Jay Charlotte (Charlotte NC) I liked the item just fine, but I'm using it only for audio, not video. If you are considering using a cable to go from your iPhone 3G or most any other iPod, I endorse this cable. The iPod connector provides MUCH better audio quality than going out from the headphone jack.
So while I think I understand the negative reviews for Video (which would seem to be Apple's fault - trying to sell their $50 cable!), the Audio quality is excellent and the price was right. GREAT and the price AWESOME!! After I browsed Walmart only to find what I wanted would cost me half another Nano I checked out Amazon and sure enough here it was!!
