Not for the iPod Touch, September 29, 2008
By
Guy HermannDespite the headline, none of the cradle adapters fit the iPod Touch and I don't trust my iPod to be supported by the connector alone. And once the cradle is connected, there is no way to plug in headphones or speakers. All around, a waste of money.

This is definitely not your standard Apple gear, with the sweet box and feel-good-about-my-purchase, colored literature. However, it's less that 1/2 the price, and works just as well. It came with an adapter for every ipod model imaginable. I've only tried the 2nd Gen nano, and it works just fine. For my 80G Classic with a DLO jam jacket, I use the cradle without any adapter and it works just fine. Two caveats that may or may not be of value:
1) My ipod doesn't sync(it does charge, however) if the usb hub it's plugged into is unpowered. I have a Kensington DomeHub USB 2.0 (7 ports) Weighted Hub 33118, which is completely full. If I power the hub, the ipod syncs. If I leave the hub unpowered, it doesn't. I have a feeling this is a limitation of the hub, not the ipod dock, but definitely could affect others who use only an unpowered hub. YMMV.
2) The dock has a blue led light which is illuminated any time the dock is plugged in, whether an ipod is docked or not. It's fairly bright. I keep mine in the office, so it doesn't bother me when I'm in the room with the lights on, but it's bright enough to be bothersome to me if I were to want to use it in the bedroom where I sleep. I don't, so it's not an issue for me.
Even with these 2 caveats, I still consider this item a great value. I bought 2, and will likely be purchasing more.
Charging wouldn't work for me. , March 3, 2008

Charles B. ShillingI have a 3G iPod (15gb) that wouldn't stay charged long enough to update via USB, and 3G iPods won't charge from USB using a standard iPod USB cable. The item description for this product led me to believe that it would charge my iPod while updating, and it simply didn't do that. I even left the iPod sitting in the cradle over night, and the battery is completely dead. I know that the iPod will charge because my car charger works fine.
Another note: The different cradle adapters didn't seem to fit the iPod very well at all. Basically the dock connector on the dock is slanted back, but the adapters appear to be made so that the iPod would stand straight up. Not a very good design.
Great Price for Useful Accessory, but adapters don't fit, November 28, 2007

The price was impressive, and the product works once you have it in hand. But be aware: The little plastic adapters don't seem to fit properly. I bought two of these (one for my iPod Nano and one for my iPod mini, for two separate computers).
The cradles work great for syncing, and look fairly good. None of the plastic adapter fittings (from either of the two sets of them I ordered and received) would fit on the base unit with either of my iPods connected. It seems like they designed the product/cast the plastic just a little bit off center. (If somebody got this wrong and then spent money to manufacture thousands of these I feel kinda bad for them)
So I just ignored all of the adapters and plug the iPods directly into the base unit. It's not as pretty, but it works. And it's a fair trade-off for a product that is so affordable.
