The AppleCare Protection Plan is subject to terms and conditions, which are provided on the AppleCare Protection Plan website.

• To qualify for the AppleCare Protection Plan, your product must be within its one-year Apple hardware warranty.
• A separate AppleCare Protection Plan must be purchased for each Apple system to be covered.
• Mac mini, Mac Pro, and MacBook Pro/MacBook Air/MacBook customers may also enroll one Apple display for coverage, provided that the Mac and the display are purchased together.

Can I purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan anytime?

You can purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan anytime within the one-year limited warranty period. Your eligibility for coverage under the AppleCare Protection Plan starts from your hardware purchase date. Apple strongly recommends that you purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan when you purchase your Apple product to maximize the additional benefits provided under the plan.

Apple may provide service through one or more of the following options: carry-in service (to Apple retail stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers), direct mail-in service, onsite service (for desktop computers), or Do-It-Yourself (DIY) parts (so you can service your own product).

If you take your Apple hardware with you when you travel and happen to need repair service, the AppleCare Protection Plan offers global repair coverage. You can either go to an Apple retail store or contact Apple for information on how to obtain service. Service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested. If you purchase your AppleCare Protection Plan and your covered product separately or elsewhere, you will need to register your AppleCare Protection Plan. I buy Apple Care for all my Mac products including iMac, MacBook Pro and iPhone.

I wouldn't be without it. Apple Care extends both the warranty and access to free Apple Care telephone support.

Macs are built well... But I have used Apple Care warranty repairs on all my Macs, dating back to 1998. Something eventually goes wrong. A logic board replacement can cost $700. My iPhone recently started to malfunction in month sixteen. Apple Care protection gave me a new (same model) iPhone without charge.

Nevertheless... I have an external hard drive for each of my Macs, and make frequent clones. Apple Care can't replace lost data if a drive goes south, even if they will replace the hard drive.

I had the Apple care on my power book had two problems to different times with it fixed the problems overnight.
Now I have a MacBook Pro no problems nice to have a piece of mine and savings from Amazon of $120. 00 thank you Amazon

I just bought a 17" Macbook Pro. Too much damn tax. It was really cool to be able to save some cash on the Apple Care. Saved me a bill to buy a sick ass Logitech mouse. Thx Amazon :)



A necessary investment, mostly because of Apple's puny warranty, September 18, 2009

Apple is not exactly an industry leader in the length of original warranties, so AppleCare becomes a necessary investment. How necessary? Well, on this present MacBook Pro Apple has replaced:

2 keyboards
1 logic board
1 optical drive
2 batteries

The cost of those replacements would be vastly greater than the cost of AppleCare. According to a recent Consumer Reports reader survey, Macs have the same reliability as all other major laptop brands.

Having to buy AppleCare to compensate for the short Mac warranties is an Apple "tax" not much discussed by the sycophants in the Mac press. In my opinion the review ratings should include the length of warranty, and Apple should be docked a star (or a mouse, or whatever) for puny warranties.

In the meantime, bite the bullet and buy AppleCare.

If you walk into an apple store they charge you full price for the extended warranty. So it made perfect sense to buy this package and save almost $90. I just hope if my new mac powerbook pro ever breaks that the warranty purchased thru Amazon is as good. It should be since I registered it with apple without problem.
