Cheap & Effective, November 16, 2009

Dan BrownOriginally I wanted to be able to record gameplay, so I looked in and found this, made my purchase.
Well at first I was severely dissatisfied, because even after following the manual setup and installing the drivers and software I kept getting the error "No input signal detected". I pretty much went mad trying to figure it out, so the product works but keep in mind the default for the program when it tries to record is .MPEG, switch it to .AVI or .WMV and recording works like a charm. ^_^.
Vista Users Beware!, November 15, 2009

Curt H. DeleonThis product claims to work with Vista and has drivers for both 32 and 64 bit, however it will not record audio in DVD format. You can hear it through the computer while you are recording but it will not save it with the video file for some reason. If you record in a lower quality format like WMV it will record sound but the picture quality is junk. You will only get half your money back if you return it to Amazon, so don't waste your time with this one if you run Vista ( I have heard it works fine on XP)

n9wffI was happy with the product for a month, then it went south. Got a few and rare VCR movies copied on disc and they play well on regular DVD players. Now all I get is audio and no video. Repaired, modified even to the point where I need to uninstall the program and reload, in hopes of this working properly again.
Some movies went out of sync, found it you can't run other programs while recording, as it causes the "drag" The video would be an hour longer than it should. Place it on DVD record, the program crashed until I set it to another setting. Once I got past that part, I used another DVD burner program and that made it all easy. Just getting the video recorded was another matter.
Now I wished I saved the money and bought a better one, maybe Roxio. Do so, it may save you the headaches later on. I gave it two stars since it worked for awhile. Nothing has shown me the privilege of giving more stars.
Horrible Product, Even Worse Customer Service, October 30, 2009

L. FrankelDo not purchase this product. I am relatively competent with technical products, and while it appears (based on the reviews) that it has worked fine for some people, it has absolutely not worked for me along with apparently many others. And, worst of all, the customer service is entirely non-existent. I have spent way too much time trying to get this item to work and trying to contact any sort of representative from the company. It is simply not worth the risk on an item from a company with no customer service (i.e., Diamond) because if you cannot get this visibly cheap product to work, you will be stuck with a non-functional item and NO technical support whatsoever. I will be returning it to Amazon like so many others have done.

I loaded this on both a Vista and an XP machine. Both go the same result. On the video screen it came up blue. The blue screen of death! I searched long and hard to resolve this and tried several different things. In addition, I tried to get help on Diamond's website and customer service. No help whatsoever. Had to return it to Amazon with frustration.
