Labor Intensive But Works!, December 27, 2008

For starters, I found the smudge and dust removal cloth furnished by the company, to be inadequate for cleaning my LCD screen prior to application. Remember, any smudges, dust or smears will become hermetically sealed by the screen protector once applied. The LCD screen MUST be spotless before application or the purpose of the screen protector is partially defeated. I used a high grade microfiber cloth of my own to insure all smears, streaks, spots, dust and lint were removed from my screen. It is probably next to impossible to apply the screen protector without amassing a number of air bubbles. I spent well over an hour or two with the squeegee card that resembles an ATM card to remove most of the air bubbles, particularly the bigger ones. I eventually gave up when I reduced the number of remaining air bubbles to about 6 relatively small ones. Air bubbles inside the screen protector look like water spots but are hardly visible when the screen is lit up. Over the course of a few days, I noticed much to my surprise, the residual air bubbles dissolved and disappeared and the screen protector has totally adhered to the LCD screen with no air bubbles or flaws. The key is patience and plenty of time to do the job of application correctly and effectively. The reward is a screen protector that protects your LCD screen, reduces eye strain, reduces UV radiation, and enhances contrast and colors. I am highly pleased with the results. But great results come at the price of alot of patience, labor intensive activity, reading the instructions carefully, squeezing out all the air bubbles and thoroughly cleansing the screen beforehand of any smears, dust and lint particles, stains and the like. I am rating this item 4 stars simply because the microfiber cloth they furnished did not effectively wipe my screen clean prior to application and the process tends to be both extremely time consuming and labor intensive with squeezing any air bubbles away with the squeegee. The work environment MUST be clean and dust free. No exceptions. This product is manufactured in Japan and appears to be high quality material maybe similar to InvisibleShield.



Slow and steady..., October 6, 2008

I have just finished applying my new, shiny LCD Screen Protector and the results are remarkable! I would have given it five stars were it not for the fact that it took an hour to get it 98% perfect!!!

I carefully studied all the prior reviews for application tips and pitfalls to avoid, and I decided to use the vacuum cleaner technique mentioned in another review. This did help lots, however, of course it is impossible to vacuum every tiny particle in the air, thus I still had some air bubbles to smooth out.

The cleansing cloth that comes with the protector is indispensable as the one that came with my mac was already pretty dusty. A thin cardboard card is also included which is to be used to smooth the protector onto the screen, after about 20 minutes, I realized that the little card was simply too small and soft for my use. I got a credit card and after positioning the protector on the upper right corner of the screen, I used the card to smooth the screen right down to the bottom right corner, then, I began smoothing the protector to the left in a horizontal sweeping motion peeling it back and reapplying after addressing any air bubble issues. Finally, after exactly one hour I was satisfied that the three or four tiny bubbles at the corners couldn't be removed. I then peeled back the plastic layer that covers the outside of the screen (this was a great idea as when you are smoothing with the credit card you are not actually applying pressure to the actual protector but to another outer layer that will be pealed away at the end)

The only other issue I had was that when a tiny bit of lint or hair got stuck to the sticky side of the screen, it was very difficult to remove without smudging the plastic, thus, try to resist the urge to rub! Just use your nails (if you have them!) and try to pick out the little intruder.

THE RESULTS: After all the work, I have a shiny screen that looks like it was born on my mac...you can only see the few air bubbles when computer is off, so it doesn't matter to me. I definitely recommend this protector, as without it your precious mac screen is vulnerable to scratches, fingerprints and dust; and when you consider what we pay for these macs, twenty bucks and an hour of frustrating application is more than worth it...go on, buy it!

After reading the reviews here, I was a little worried about the difficulty involved in the installation process. The screen protector is as described and works as promised. What is difficult, is getting all the airbubbles out, and installing with no dust articles on the screen. This can be accomplished with assistance from a second set of hands. Clean your screen well, (use a little alchohol to remove grease and dust), then wipe down with the included dust removal cloth, making sure to get into the corners and edges of the screen. Using a vacuum cleaner, have an assistant hold the hose near (but not touching) your screen. This will remove any dust particles floating about. Align the screen protector. Remove one corner of the inside liner, press the screen protector down, and as you press out the airbubbles, continue to remove the rest of the backing as your work your way along. IT TAKES PATIENCE, but it can be done easily to get ALL the bubbles out. Remember ~ haste makes waste ~ so be patient and take your time doing this. Once in, its all worth it.

This product should not be on the market. There are two films to install and it's imposible to remove the air bubbles. No, matter how hard you tried-i tried to get rid of them for 2 hours-you cannot get rid of the air bubbles. You also don't want to press to hard like the instrution manuel says because it might crack the lcd display, or put one of those color spots on it. Since, it's a hassle to put it on to your screen; i just cut it and put it on the wrist rest of the computer and trackpad.
