Lost faith in G-Drive, September 15, 2009

I have purchased 3 G-Tech drives this year - a Mini, Q-750GB quad, and a Q-1TB quad. All of them have failed within 6 months. While G-Technology's customer service has been great, I will never by G-Drives again. I know a hard drive can fail at any time. But prior to G-Drive, I have had 3-4 failures of various hard drives in 15 years. Three failures within 6 months from the same manufacturer is ridiculous!!!

I just ordered this hard drive and received it in the mail today. I did some research on other hard drives and this seemed to be the best option for me. I am a film student converting from PC to Mac. When I opened the box everything I needed was included, an eSATA cable, firewire 400 and 800 cables, a USB 2.0 cable, the power cord and the CD with all the manuals. I did have some issues formatting to my PC, however, when I contacted the technical support they took the time to send me an email containing detailed instructions on how to fix the problem. Then I was able to use the hard drive without any issues. So far so good and I will hopefully put up a progress report on this item.

These Hard Drives are not cheap Western Digitals' or Maxtors' these are Pro level HDs designed for the professional if you want drive just store your kids photos this will do it, however it would be a serous overkill. If however you are a Pro Video editor, Graphic designer or Digital Photographer this drive is a must have. G-tech HD's do not overheat, G-tech HD's do not have a energy saving sleep mode that activates in the middle of a render. G-tech HD's are designed for one thing and one thing only and that is to move your data safely and reliably without ever breaking down in it's 3-5 year lifespan. These HD's are expensive however you get what you pay for.



Greatest HDDs I've ever had!, February 12, 2009

I've had two of these hard drives for over 3 months now I am completely in love with them.

The connectivity, the style, the capacity, the speed, and how it goes perfectly with the rest of my Apple gear... it's just an amazing piece of hardware.

I use one primarily for editing, and the other one as a back up with Time Machine. Haven't had any problems so far and if I ever need another HDD I know I'll get another G-Tech, this one, or if they come out with a better one then that one.

Love it!

EDIT - 08/26/2009: Still have it and still going strong. All hard drives crash eventually, but I can guarantee that whenever these two puppies fail I will be getting another G-Tech drive. Truly a remarkable product and the only hard drives I currently recommend.
