Amazon.com Product Description:Ideal for outdoor activities, long road or backpacking trips, and any other extended period when a power source might be several hours (or days) away, this backup iPod battery pack keeps your music flowing throughout the afternoon and night. The pack connects to your iPod's 30-pin dock connector, with a built-in clip keeping it securely attached to your belt. Once attached, the backup battery unit delivers an extra 15 to 20 hours of playing time, far more than the iPod's integrated rechargeable battery. And should the backup battery start to run down--as revealed by the LED indicator--simply insert another four AA batteries (not included) and you're back to full strength. The backup battery is compatible with the iPod 3G, iPod 4G, iPod photo, iPod video, iPod nano, and iPod mini and carries a 90-day warranty against defects.

This little battery pack used to be great and did exactly as it described, works excellently on long journeys. Now, here's the RUB, I have a fifth gen 30gb IPOD and I updated it when prompted on iTunes a few weeks ago now when I plug my Maxell battery pack in it says it is now not supported and will not work anymore. I am less than impressed with Apple and their dumb update, I want to find a way where I can revert back to the original version I had. If you have one of these and intend to update your iPod on ITunes you have been warned.

This is great I have ipod nano 3rd gen the short fat video ipod. This battery pack lasted a 18 hour flight from LAX to Bangladesh, and about 2 days of nightly usage once I got there. Press the white button and blue led meter will show how much AA batt life you got. Remember charge your ipod to the max before you go. This is not a charger, but instead a battery life extender. You ipod battery meter will slowly start to go down, but it would take like 3 weeks for it to go down to nothing using this device. Only problem is that it is bulky, but bottom line it works!

This unit performed very well. I used it on a 14 hour flight and I did not have to change the batteries once. It is a solid unit built to last. The downside is the pack's weight and size. Other than those two items the unit is worth the price.

My husband bought this for camping with his buddies - last year the ipod died and he had to hike out and charge it in the car. It was clutch this year and gave them at least 10 more hours of play. It says it's not compatible with the 5th Generation Video ipod but it is. Works great!
Doesn't work with Touch 2g, October 12, 2008

After reading the reviews i thought that this would work with my ipod touch 2g, however it is incompatiable, i tested it just to make sure for 4 hours and it didn't work. I instead went with a USB charger that works will all ipods; its made by duracell, plus you get the batteries and a car charger. Why can't all companies make products as intutive as duracell's. Here is the description for those shoppers out there, Duracell Mobile Charger CEF23DX4N.
