Excellent book - (almost) everything you need for 70-238, November 24, 2008

Writing an IT certification exam preparation book isn't an easy task. A balance has to be kept between "here are the facts - learn this and you'll pass the exam" and "here is the context - the why and how it's done in the real world". I'm an MCT and I've read my share of certification books and I found that the Ruests did a great job of finding that balance in this book.
It's thorough, technically accurate and interspersed with the "facts" are real world context descriptions making it very accessible. Service Pack 1 is also covered but it's frequently pointed out that it's not included in the current version of the exam, there's even an appendix dedicated to discussing SP1. Every aspect of Exchange is covered in detail except perhaps PowerShell which could have done with more content.
The trial version of Exchange 2007 on the accompanying CD is a nice touch.
This is an excellent exam preparation book and I would have given it five stars if there had been more coverage of PowerShell.

I flipped through this book quite a lot before I purchased it on Amazon. After my last disappointments from Microsoft Press Exchange training I was somewhat skeptical. The authors have taken some time to ensure that the information is accurate, updated and to the point. Exchange 2007 SP1 is covered here in detail, they also provide exam tips throughout. The book is broken into lessons much like other MS Press books which I like. I also like the format of this book. The only complaint I have is that there is very little Powershell coverage and this book alone is not enough to pass the exam. I would recommend that you also use another source of study material such as the Exchange 2007 Administrators companion or even the Exchange 2007 Pocket Admin book which includes a ton of Powershell examples. This book includes 2 CDs with examples and a 32-bit 120 day version of Exchange 2007.
