5.0 Customer Rating Very good book, January 6, 2009
    By C. Arias
This book is a very good study tool. Not only is the material written in a way that is easily understood, but the test questions on there are very close to the ones on the test. I would highly suggest getting this book for the 70-620 cert.

5.0 Customer Rating Another Good Study Guide, December 20, 2008

This is the second "Training Kit" book I have read, the first being Installing Configuring and Administering Windows XP Professional. I have found these books to be pretty good in covering the objectives. This book consists of fourteen chapters covering all aspects of installing, configuring and maintaining Vista. Each chapter is divided into lessons covering a particular topic. At the end of each lesson is a summary of important points and several review questions. At the end of each chapter is a chapter summary, various scenario questions and suggested practices. The answers and explanations are in the back of the book. The software required to complete the practice exercises is Vista Ultimate.

Included with the book is a CD containing practice tests and an eBook or electronic version of the book. Having a PDF copy of the book is nice if you don't want to carry around the book and it makes searching for something easy.

On the CD are two sets of practice questions. The questions are powered by a MeasureUp testing engine. One set repeats the questions in the book and is good for reviewing the material covered in the book. This set consists of 140 questions. The second set covers material that may or may not have been specifically mentioned in the book, so you will want to make sure you cover all of these questions and note why the correct answers are correct and why the incorrect answers are incorrect. Explanations are given for both the correct and incorrect answers. This set consists of 302 questions. What I do is select the custom mode, select no for randomized questions and cover one objective at a time. This way I make sure I don't miss any questions. You can also select a study mode where you can request correct answers and a certification mode which simulates the exam. I found three questions which were answered incorrectly, I believe. In two of these questions the opposite answers were selected. If you want more practice questions, Microsoft recommends the Transcender testing engine. The only issue I have with this is the price: $149 for the practice exam - ouch!

As I write this, Windows 7 is about a year away - so they say. I wonder if companies that haven't yet switched their systems to Vista will now do so with the next, supposedly better OS, just over the horizon. Each person will have to decide what is best for their situation.

Overall I prefer these books for study. I also think they would make a good study guide for learning the software even if you weren't interested in certification.

The book was very good and covered what was on the exam well. I passed on the first try with an 807. The only downside is that the practice exams on the CD arent random enough. Meaning that I took several practice exams in the certification mode and by the 6th or 7th one I didnt have to read the question to know what the right answer was. You really have to go through all of the questions in the lesson review segment to have a more thorough understanding.

5.0 Customer Rating Excellent resource for passing exam, December 15, 2008
By N. Ball (Ripon, CA USA)
Most of the Microsoft Press books are excellent for preparing for their respective exams, and this one is no different. This was the only resource I used to prep for the exam, besides actually using Vista. The practices really help learn things, and you'll need the hands-on knowledge for the exam simulations. The test questions are also a good resource to test your readiness for the exam.

There are a few errors, both in the text and in the practice test questions. The practice test ones are frustrating, but nothing major because even though they are scored incorrectly, the explanation is correct. Make sure you check the errata on Microsoft's website.

I think that if you have used Vista regularly, this book should be the only certification preparation book you need for the exam. If you have little experience with Vista, or Microsoft OS's in general, you may need another supplementary resource.

Overall, another great resource from Microsoft Press. Make sure you check it out if you are doing 70-620.

I was advised to get this book to assist in the Microsoft training I am taking for Vista. This book has been a big help and the CD included is even more helpful. The CD provides a lot more test questions to study with and the book breaks things down for easier understanding.
