I don't know., June 16, 2008

I don't know whether or not the version I have (Sonar 7, Beginner Level) is informative enough. Perhaps that's because it's the Beginner Level and I wanted something a little bit more in depth. I can't seem to find the Intermediate or Advanced level DVDs for Sonar 7. In a few areas, the instructor, Andrew Eisele, seems to be indifferent and possibly irritated when he encounters problems unexpectedly, or Sonar doesn't do what he wants it to do. I wish he would have corrected, or explained, the problem then and there, but instead he moves on to the next subject. All in all, the fact that this is the ONLY DVD available for Sonar 7, I have no other choice than to watch this DVD. There are, however, some quite good books out there covering the new Sonar 7. Also, DMD (Digital Music Doctor) has a CD-ROM that has instructional videos, but is only playable on a computer (not an actual DVD). I will most likely buy the Intermediate and Advanced DVDs by Music Pro Guides (whenever and if they are released). Until then, I'll just try to get the most of this this "Beginners" DVD. Sorry, but this beginner's guide is actually kind of boring and goes over stuff that you would normal see by just browing the program itself. It does not go into any real depth (thus the reason I'm waiting for the Intermediate and Advanced DVDs). Otherwise, a relatively good product.
