I bought the wheely bug for my daughter's 1st birthday! She adores it and so does her 3 year old sister! I will probably get the larger one for her at Christmas! You definitely want the smaller one if your child is closer to 1 year old. It takes some time for them to master themselves if they are a new walker but the width and height of the smaller one is good for younger children.

We got this for our daughter's first birthday and she has absolutely loved it!! We have a three year old boy as well, and saw her frustration as she tried to ride traditional ride ons and keep up with him, because anytime she would get any kind of speed going the back wheels would ram her ankles. The wheely solved this problem since the wheels are underneath and turn 360 degrees, she is able to maneuver wherever she wants and go as fast as she wants. The small size was also a blessing as she is an early walker (eight months!) and a tiny little thing. She can zoom around with the "big boys" and is happy as a clam. All our neighbors always stop and are amazed at how agile and cute it is. It also still looks brand new (a year later), and she rides it almost everyday (outside and inside). Worth every single cent!
Cute but not a fit for our toddler, June 14, 2008

K. RogersMy husband and I thought this was whimsical and a great idea for our toddler. Unfortunately our toddler had another opinion. While our daughter loves to scoot around on a "ride along" type toy she did not have any interest in this particular product. We tried to get her to sit on it several times but she looked perplexed and would just push it away. We suspect that perhaps it was too small, however she is only 15 mo. and isn't an especially tall child. We ended up with a $23 plastic ride along by Fisher Price which she adores. Bummer for us and our clever ideas. We still think it is a really attractive and fun looking toy. Excellent craftsmanship.
