This was required material for my digital Illustration class. Needless to say Adobe Illustrator beginners beware. Yes, this book has great content but does not take you through step by step with directions. Most of the exercises only supply a general overview of how to apply the techniques. Even though I am not a beginner with Adobe Illustrator there were points where the rest of the class as well as myself were completely lost with the instructions. I am going to go through a tutorial now and then I will try the exercises again, hopefully I will have better luck with it then.

I bought this book since it is a requirement in my course to have one... I personally liked it because there are wonderful features and methods to create a nice projects. It is good for everyone who is looking for techniques, whether they're easy to difficult, to incorporate in their vector artworks. I recommend this book who is very enthusiastic about putting their vector-making skills to another level, plus, they feature different famous projects from well-known illustrator and be amazed of what they've done.
I rated this book three stars since CS4 will be available in few weeks and i don't know if this will still be handy...

This book has awesome cool tricks and how to's for Illustrator especially to a novice. But it's a little confusing going back and forth through the lessons on the computer and book- especially to a novice. The information in the book is amazing and anyone who ever wondered "how do they do that?" will love it. I believe my problem was probably a little impatience and user error.
Really good and informative book, September 1, 2008

Emanuel RiosThis title has a wealth of information that can be used by both beginners and those familiar with the program. The slightly non-linear arrangement of information makes certain topics hard to locate, but otherwise a good book.
